Work and Holiday Agreement with Slovak Republic

On 27 May 2015, a new Work and Holiday arrangement was signed with the Slovak Republic, establishing a reciprocal Work and Holiday visa (subclass 462) arrangement between the two countries.

Young Aussies and Slovaks can now explore and work in each other’s countries under a reciprocal work and holiday visa arrangement announced by the Minister for Foreign Affairs, the Hon Julie Bishop and Assistant Minister for Immigration and Border Protection, Senator the Hon Michaelia Cash on 27 May 2015.

Minister Bishop, who met and signed the agreement with Slovak Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Foreign Affairs Miroslav Lajčák during his three-day visit, said the new arrangement demonstrated the constructive and positive relationship between our two countries.

“The new arrangement will allow up to 200 young people from both countries to enjoy a holiday in each other’s country each year, during which they may undertake short term work and study,” Minister Cash said.

The date for the change to come into effect for the Work and Holiday (Subclass 462) visa will be made available on the Department’s website at www.immi.

The Work and Holiday (Temporary) visa (subclass 462) is for young people who want to holiday and work in Australia for up to a year. It is a temporary visa that encourages cultural exchange and closer ties between Australia and eligible countries.
