Migration law is a complex and dynamic area of practice with legislation subject to regular changes. In recognition of the need to ensure all registered migration agents in Perdaman Global Services maintain and enhance their knowledge on latest changes in their area of practice and more importantly to provide the best solutions and professional services to clients, a two-day continuing professional development (CPD) workshop was organised.
Noelene Merrey, Chief Executive Officer of Perdaman Global Services said, “Recognising the critical need to maintain the level of professionalism, skill and knowledge of our migration agents, Perdaman Global Services organises annually in-house CPD programs.”
Held on Friday, 05 June 2015, Perdaman Global Services engaged the services of Peter Bollard and Gareth Lewis from Lewis & Bollard, a law firm based in Sydney, New South Wales to conduct the CPD workshop at Perdaman Global Services’s premises.
In the twelve months prior to re-registration as migration agents, it is mandatory for migration agents to earn at least 10 CPD points through the completion of Migration Agents Registration Authority (MARA) – approved CPD activities. Section 290A of the Migration Act 1958 stipulates that an agent must not be registered if he or she has not done continuing professional development. The Migration Agents Code of Conduct and Ethical Framework, set out in legislation, regulate the conduct of agents and prescribe their obligations towards clients’ relationships with broad guidance on occupational competency standards requirements to practice successfully as professionals.
Lewis & Bollard is a law firm that specialises in servicing the needs of people from many different ethnic backgrounds in Australia and from other countries. Lewis & Bollard focuses on Migration and property Law, but can also assist with the matters regarding family.
